PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla.- Drivers across Pinellas County should prepare for a series of orange barrels and flashing lights as the Florida Department of Transportation kicks off a heavy week of roadwork starting Sunday, February 22. The scheduled maintenance and construction will affect nearly every major route in the region, from the Sunshine Skyway to US 19.
Most of the disruption is scheduled for the overnight hours to minimize the impact on the daily rush. Those traveling I-175 between 16th Street S and 4th Street S will see lane closures from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. starting Sunday and running through Thursday night.
Similarly, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge on I-275 will be restricted to fewer lanes nightly from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Friday, February 27. Further north on I-275, between 38th Avenue North and Roosevelt Boulevard, crews will be active from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday…
