Firefighters’ rapid response saves toddler’s life in Monroe County

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – Monroe County firefighters saved an unresponsive toddler who was having a medical emergency.

The incident occurred on Monday, Feb. 16, at 9:36 a.m., when firefighters at Monroe County’s Fire Station 1, located at 911 E. Third Street, responded to an urgent emergency when a young mother arrived banging on the station’s rear door holding her unresponsive 1-year-old son.

The firefighters were said to have immediately begun advanced life support measures and called for an ambulance to expedite transport to a Metro Detroit hospital…
