Des Moines Water Works replacing 400 lead service lines

DES MOINES, Iowa — In the continued effort to improve water quality in central Iowa, Des Moines Water Works is replacing lead service lines in 400 Drake neighborhood homes.

“Water quality and protecting public health is at the heart of everything we do. Every day we make decisions to protect public health. This led initiative is just another way to ensure that,” said Amy Kahler, CEO and General Manager of Des Moines Water Works.

This is part of Des Moines Water Work’s lead service line replacement project. It began in the River Bend and King Irving neighborhoods after receiving $12.1 million in federal funding to replace up to 1,000 lead service lines.
