LAFAYETTE, La. (KMDL-FM) – Although Mardi Gras 2026 has passed, the stories about Mardi Gras continue unfold everyday. One Church Point woman on Facebook has made a hilarious video posing as a “Mardi Gras 911 Operator” taking calls from people with Mardi Gras emergencies, and it perfectly sums up Carnival Season in Acadiana.

In a video posted to Facebook by Koa Guidry Melancon, she fields Mardi Gras 911 calls ranging from people being hit in the head with beads, to people falling off their horse, to someone lying dead in ditch. Obviously, no one is lying dead in a ditch, they’re just sleeping one off.
What makes this video funny is that the calls she gets are all real Mardi Gras problems we’ve either encountered ourselves, or have witnessed first hand.
It’s also funny how she deals with these Mardi Gras problems with the wisdom of a true Mardi Gras veteran. The soup ladle microphone adds a nice touch as well…
