Oswego OKs community solar subscription agreements

OSWEGO, Ill. — The Oswego Village Board on Tuesday approved agreements to participate in a community solar program, authorizing anchor subscription arrangements between the village and Solstice Power Technologies, LLC.

Trustees approved the item after briefly discussing the program’s potential savings and what it does — and does not — mean for future development inside the village. The vote came during the Feb. 17 village board meeting after trustees pulled the item from the consent agenda for separate consideration.

Trustee Andrew Torres asked to remove the item so it could be discussed publicly. He said the proposal had been explained previously at a Committee of the Whole meeting and described it as an opportunity to reduce costs. Torres said the agreements were presented as a way to save money for taxpayers and noted the board had discussed projected savings of about 10% per year…
