STATE 6A GIRLS: Borah’s late comeback falls short against Coeur d’Alene

NAMPA — Down by as many as 15 points in the second half, Borah came all the way back with a shot to tie or take the lead in the final seconds in its first round state tournament game.

Coeur d’Alene guard Brookslee Colvin stepped on the baseline with ten seconds left, giving the ball back to the Lions as they trailed by two points. Borah’s ensuing possession resulted in a jump ball in its favor, but only 1.7 seconds remained. Without a timeout, the Lions had to craft one final play on the fly.

Borah was unable to get a shot off as Abi Howington’s inbounds pass was tipped by Brinley Chase and went out of bounds. The Vikings then ran off the final tenths of a second off the clock to hold on for a 61-59 win, defeating the Lions in the first round at state for a second year in a row Thursday afternoon at the Ford Idaho Center…
