Woman arrested at Salt Lake airport is deported after spending months in detention

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — After spending months in custody and transfers through multiple detention facilities across the country, a woman was deported to her home country of El Salvador.

Marta Brizeyda Renderos Leiva was arrested at Salt Lake City International Airport by Homeland Security and Border Patrol agents acting on behalf of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“This is something very painful, and I don’t wish it on anybody,” Renderos Leiva said.
