SPOKANE, Wash. — Crews in Spokane are working this week and next to remove trees in city parks that have been damaged by bark beetle infestation.
The city says crews will remove around 250 trees from Spokane parks—everywhere from Downriver and Indian Canyon golf courses to Manito Park on Spokane’s South Hill.
The city says that by cutting down the infested trees, it can stave off the spread and keep the rest of the park healthier. Officials say they have to cut the trees now because once spring comes and the temperatures are sixty degrees or higher, the bark beetles can easily spread…
