UVA researchers team with high school students for annual art show

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – University of Virginia researchers are collaborating with Charlottesville High School students to transform scientific work into original art through the annual Magnify Art Show.

The program pairs UVA scientists with high school art students, who interpret microscopic discoveries and laboratory research through their artistic perspective.

“When these students come in, I feel like they really see the beauty in it and they just interpret it in, you know, a different way than I ever could,” said Alyssa Luz-Ricca, a UVA PhD student who helps coordinate the collaboration…
