Missing Navy veteran was ‘getting scammed,’ son believes

(NewsNation) — Authorities are searching for a missing Navy veteran whose son believes she may have fallen victim to a scam.

Margaret Hanley, 72, was reported missing on Feb. 11 and last seen in Hinesville, Georgia, after she left her home in Jacksonville, Florida, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Hanley’s son, Jomo Thompson, told local outlet Action News Jax that his mother is a 23-year Navy veteran who he believes has been “getting scammed.”

Thompson explained that after filing a missing person’s report, he reviewed his mother’s bank activity and found “unusual transactions.”…
