Driver who damaged headstones in Fowlerville must pay nearly $22K

A local man was sentenced to 10 days in jail, 18 months of probation and must pay nearly $22,000 in restitution after damaging numerous historic headstones last summer at Greenwood Cemetery in Fowlerville.

John Tyle, 41, was given four days of credit and must attend Adult Drug Court, according to a sentencing hearing Feb. 19 before Judge Matthew McGivney in Livingston County’s 44th Circuit Court.

Tyle pled guilty Jan. 23 to tampering with evidence (a felony), reckless driving (a misdemeanor) and failure to report an accident (a misdemeanor). He was charged as a fourth-offense habitual offender, and also pled guilty to a probation violation for operating while intoxicated in August 2024…
