This month, the LPD recognizes and honors the first 4 African American Officers.

Within our department, we pay tribute to the first Black officers who joined LakelandPD nearly 72 years ago, beginning in 1954. Pictured in 1956 are four of our first African American officers. These men paved the way for the opportunities the officers who followed them would have.

Thank You Officers Thomas Hodge, Edgar T. Pickett, Jr., Samuel King, and Samuel Williams for your service to the citizens of Lakeland. Your legacy will always be remembered and honored here at the Lakeland Police Department…
