Judge blocks defense’s questioning in the Harvest Homecoming murder trial

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — The defense rested its case in the Harvest Homecoming murder trial in southern Indiana. Isaiah Page stands accused of killing Bryce Gerlach. The 18-year-old was an innocent bystander on an anniversary date with his girlfriend.

Page’s attorneys had more questions for the crime scene examiner. However, the judge didn’t let the jury hear most of those questions.

Defense Calculations Disagreed With State Police Expert

The defense tried its own calculations with the 3D recreation of the crime scene presented by the Indiana State Police. Sgt. Phillip D’Angelo, the ballistics expert who put it together, disagreed with the math. That’s why the jury didn’t hear most of their exchange.

Page’s team believed their calculations showed a shooter in the parking lot struck Gerlach. They based their analysis on a horizontal angle, using a protractor on a 2D image of the crime scene. The measurement indicated a 14.86-degree angle between the north parking lot shooter and the approximate location of Gerlach’s body…
