Dream Apartment Turns Into Nightmare For Identity Thief In Wood-Ridge, Cops Say

Sakinah C. Watford, 34, of East Orange, was arrested and charged with two counts of forgery and false identity, police said.

The investigation began on Monday, Feb. 16, when Wood-Ridge Officer Oscar Castillo-Zaccone filed a police report on behalf of a citizen alleging she was a victim of identity theft and fraud, Capt. Joseph Biamonte Jr. said.

According to the report, the victim was alerted through the apartment leasing application process submitted at Rosera at Wesmont, located at 200 Rosie Square in Wood-Ridge, Biamonte said. The lease was incomplete and was flagged in the company’s system, prompting communication with the applicant, according to the captain. The victim was later contacted by management at Rosera, revealing that her identity had been stolen by an unknown female, authorities said…
