Man killed by truck on I-75 was suspected carjacker, police say

A man who died Thursday after being struck by a truck as he tried to run across I-75 had stolen a vehicle from a 67-year-old man just minutes before the fatal accident.

Just before 12:45 p.m. Thursday, crews were sent to the Greyhound bus station at 415 Emerald Ave. on a report of an apparent carjacking in progress, police said.

The caller told police a man forced another individual out of a car and then drove off, dragging the 67-year-old victim for several blocks before he finally became free and fell to the pavement. He was taken to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center with injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening…
