(Lafayette, LA) – When the Easter bunny pays a visit to children in Acadiana, they are excited to look in their baskets to find delicious candy and little toys. Unfortunately, many children in our community might not experience the excitement of a well-stuffed Easter basket this year.

The issue of children not receiving anything for Easter has weighed heavily on the mind of McMillan’s Pub owner, Robin McMillan. In 2013, she set out on a path to help our community and bring some happiness to local children in honor of her beloved aunt. And that’s how Margaret’s Minnows began.
McMillan’s Aunt’s name was Margaret, and she chose minnows because Margaret had been a children’s swim instructor for almost 75 years. Now Robin collects candy and small toys to help kids in our community have a full Easter basket and put joy in their hearts.
How to Donate Easter Candy to Margaret’s Minnows
Robin seeks donations from family, friends, businesses, and business associates to help out hundreds of children each Easter. Her goal is to make sure each child has a chocolate Easter bunny, along with candy and, often, small toys, to brighten their Easter holiday.
Donations of candy and small toys can be dropped off at the following locations:
- McMillan’s Pub at 2905 East Simcoe Road in Lafayette after 4 p.m. Closed Sundays
- Townsquare Media at 1749 Bertrand Drive in Lafayette
- Fisher’s Early Childhood Development at 230 Ridge Road in Lafayette
- Fisher’s Early Childhood Development at 204 East Farrel Road in Lafayette
McMillan works to assist multiple organizations in Acadiana, and they include the following:
- CASA of Acadiana
- Boys and Girls Clubs of Acadiana (All Five)
- SMILE
McMillan, founder of Margaret’s Minnows, needs candy for Easter baskets for kids who otherwise wouldn’t get one. It’s a big job, and she could use help…
