Lenexa woman seriously hurt after SUV crashes, catches fire on I-435

EDWARDSVILLE, Kan. (KCTV) – A Lenexa woman suffered serious injuries when her SUV veered off I-435, struck a light pole and caught fire.

Alyssa T. Wilson, 26, was driving north on I-435 near K-32 just before 11:40 p.m. when her 2024 Chevrolet Equinox left the roadway for an unknown reason, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

What happened: Troopers said the SUV traveled through the median and hit a metal streetlight post. A fire then broke out in the engine.

Victim’s condition: Emergency crews noted that they took Wilson to the University of Kansas Medical Center with serious injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt during the crash…
