Dawn Staley’s South Carolina recently got a massive win over Kim Mulkey’s LSU. It was a close, tight game between two quality sides. The Gamecocks were trailing in the first quarter, but very quickly got hold of the game. The next three quarters were all South Carolina. LSU did look like they were going to orchestrate a comeback, but the Gamecocks were just too good.
Tessa Johnson held the game by its neck. She ended up with 21 points and was unstoppable. Even Kim Mulkey was out of answers and frantically screamed at her players on the bench, “who can guard Tessa?” Flau’jae Johnson was truly the only player on the LSU squad who seemed like making real impact on the game. She also got 21 points along with 8 rebounds.
It was a very important match-up for the SEC play. And LSU’s loss must have really impacted them. Dawn Staley and South Carolina, being their direct rivals in the conference, it was really a big win…
