Utah transportation commissioner questions results of higher speed limits on I-15.

LIBERTY WELLS—As Tom Jacobson drove to Salt Lake City on Friday morning, the roads out of Park City were still snowpacked from the storm that hit earlier in the week.

The variable speed limit signs had been dropped to 45 miles per hour, Jacobson said, and most of the motorists around him were respecting the rules. But one driver in a big truck roared down the highway at 65 or 70, dangerously defying the slick conditions.

“I would assume many of our fatalities are caused by drivers who are not driving consistent with the flow of traffic,” he said…
