EUGENE, Ore. – Specialty outdoor retailer REI is closing its downtown Eugene location this weekend. The store, which has been on Lawrence Street since 1992, is moving to a larger space at Oakway Center.
Store officials shared that they have outgrown their current location. The new store will occupy the former Bed, Bath & Beyond space, offering an additional 10,000 square feet.
“I love this spot. I went to the Eugene planing mill when it was the Eugene planing mill, but it’ll be better in the bigger store,” said John Fischer, an Eugene resident. “You know, this spot just doesn’t have as much stuff as they do in Seattle and all. So it’ll be great, but I’ll miss this store. It’s really, it’s a beautiful store if you’ve ever been here.”…
