PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Move over, New York. The Brooklyn Bridge — or at least a different iteration of it — is coming to Portland.
On Thursday afternoon, Portland City Council unanimously voted to name the Brooklyn neighborhood’s bridge between Southeast 17th Avenue and Southeast 26th Avenue the Brooklyn Bridge.

The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee previously moved to advance the proposal to the full council after hearing a presentation earlier this month. The presentation recognized the bridge as a link between the east and west sides of the Southeast Portland neighborhood that also spans the Union Pacific Brooklyn train yard.
In written testimony, a Brooklyn neighborhood resident identified as Alex Amend told city leaders it was about time to recognize the local bridge as a “superior structure.”…
