This Oregon Restaurant Is the Perfect Place for a Cozy, Intimate Dinner

Are you looking for a cozy spot for an intimate drink or dinner? If so, head to McMenamins Chapel Pub in northeast Portland. This cool pub is located in a historic building that boasts gorgeous woodwork and ironwork—it’s the type of place that you can’t stop thinking about after a single visit. Stop by for a pint, a burger, and conversation.

McMenamins Chapel Pub is a delightful and unique destination. This building was constructed in the 1930s as a funeral home, but later became a popular venue for events such as weddings and concerts. The Chapel Pub has two stories: the top floor is the McMenamins Headquarters offices, and the lower level is a full pub. O.B. Dawson, the talented builder who constructed the chapel, also worked on other iconic Oregon buildings, including Timberline Lodge, the University of Oregon, and Oregon State.

The Chapel Pub is a neighborhood favorite spot for a meal or drinks in a welcoming setting. Outdoors, there is a charming patio where you can take a seat and enjoy some fresh air and a good drink. For a cozy evening indoors, you may be seated next to the fireplace or even the Round Oak wood stove. The dark wood and other unique features of the interior lend themselves to warm, intimate conversation.

However, it doesn’t matter where you sit because the food is just as special as the overall atmosphere of this unique Portland restaurant. McMenamins Chapel Pub serves Northwest-style pub fare with fresh and seasonal ingredients that are sourced from local and regional growers.

You can choose from a variety of plates to share with friends or some tasty snacks. There’s delicious pub food like ale-battered fish and chips, a variety of burgers, and yummy sandwiches. Pair your meal with a drink, ranging from seasonal cocktails and McMenamins beer to hard cider, wine, and non-alcoholic options. I also recommend you don’t leave without trying one of the desserts on the menu, and there is a kids’ menu if you wish to bring the family along.
