West Virginia gains expanded authority to regulate coal mining on federal lands

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WVNS) – West Virginia has been given more power by the Department of the Interior (DOI) to manage coal mining and reclamation activity.

According to a press release from DOI, West Virginia’s authority is broadened by adding an amendment to its cooperative agreement for coal mining and reclamation within the state that is on federal lands.
