Birmingham warming stations open this weekend in preparation for freezing temperatures

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The city of Birmingham, in partnership with Jimmie Hale Mission, will open its nightly warming station starting this Sunday, Feb. 22.

Due to expected freezing temperatures, the warming station will be open from 6 p.m. on Sunday and Monday until the temperature rises each following morning.

Jimmie Hale Mission will provide dinner and breakfast to all warming station guests. Essential items and cold weather clothing will also be provided.

Rainy End To The Week; Then a Cold Blast Sunday

To assist the mobility challenged and those without transportation, Jimmie Hale Mission will provide a free shuttle service from 6 to 7 p.m. Shuttle pickup will take place at the main entrance of Linn Park at the intersection of Park Place and 20 St. N. Transportation back will be provided each morning…
