Beachwood City Council voted 6-0 during its Feb. 17 meeting to move along a rezoning proposal to allow Sheetz, a 24-hour gas station/convenience store/restaurant to be built on the property of what is currently a three-story office building at 24700 Chagrin Blvd. to a committee of the whole meeting on March 9 for discussion before any action is taken.
Councilmembers Jillian DeLong, Alec Isaacson, Alexandra Jacobs, Pete Smith, Ali Stern and June Taylor all vote yes, came after a public hearing during the Feb. 17 meeting in which several business owners in the Commerce Park district spoke against the plan for the site that was once home to a U.S. Bank branch. Council president Danielle Shoykhet was not present.
Brad Coven, principal of Coven Goldman Associates at 23845 Mercantile Road in Beachwood who specializes in the representation of landlords and tenants in the leasing and sales of office and industrial space in the Cleveland area, owns and operates eight buildings in Commerce Park, where he has also worked for almost 30 years, he said.
