New Haven High School students stage walkout over immigration enforcement

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Dozens of students at New Haven High School walked out of class around 2 p.m. Friday, marching through downtown New Haven to protest federal immigration enforcement practices.

Students say they are speaking out against tactics used by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, citing recent national headlines about an immigration crackdown and fatal enforcement encounters in Minnesota.

Participants carried handmade signs and chanted as they moved through the downtown area, and said they wanted to show solidarity with immigrant families and raise awareness in their community…
