Man allegedly threatens woman with knife over household item left out

An Oxford man was arrested after allegedly threatening a woman with a knife when she did nit put something away on a shelf.

A deputy met with the female victim of an alleged physical argument involving 32-year-old William Scranton at his Oxford home at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

She stated it began over her not putting away household items on a shelf. Scranton got very agitated, picked up a toaster oven pan and swung it at her head. She put her hand on top of her head to block it, which pinched it between the pan and her head, the report said.

The altercation continued when Scranton pushed the victim backward and pinned her legs against a metal dog kennel. He then picked up a red-handled kitchen knife, threatened to use it and lunged toward her. Fearing for her life, she ran out the door in her stockings on the railroad bed gravel, the report said…
