Analyzing a week of the developing dynamic between Zohran Mamdani and Kathy Hochul

Albany, NY (WRGB) — On Monday, Governor Kathy Hochul and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced an extra $1.5 billion would be heading from the State to New York City in the effort of combatting the City’s budget deficit, which is currently about $5.4 billion.

The next day, Mamdani presented his Budget, and in that presentation said if the State doesn’t “tax the rich”, he will raise property taxes for everyone, causing shockwaves across the City and the State.

The Governor has continued to say she won’t raise taxes this year, but Mamdani obviously hasn’t backed off his platform either…
