Raleigh Celebrates Mrs. Sharon Reid’s 19 Years of Dedicated Service as Beloved Crossing Guard

As Black History Month concludes, the Raleigh Police Department recognized Mrs. Sharon Reid for her 19 years of service as a crossing guard. She has served in the role since 2007.

Mrs. Reid began working as a crossing guard at Millbrook Elementary School after being encouraged to apply by the school’s principal. Over the years, she has worked closely with students, parents, and school staff, helping ensure children cross safely each day.

According to the City of Raleigh, Mrs. Reid has handled a variety of assignments throughout her career, including some of the more challenging posts in the city. The role requires focus, patience, and consistency, especially during busy school hours…
