ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Dr. Dave Hamilton of New River Natural Health said parents can consider modified vaccine schedules as an option for their children’s immunizations.
Alternative scheduling recommendations
Hamilton’s recommendations include giving the MMR vaccine after age 1 for children traveling to areas where measles is prevalent. He said this vaccine should be given alone with at least a month wait before administering other vaccines.
The varicella vaccine for chickenpox can be given after age 1 if parents prefer vaccination over natural infection, Hamilton said.
