Off-duty Austin officer shoots, kills man who opened fire inside barbershop, TCSO says

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A gunman is dead after an off-duty Austin Police officer fatally shot him at a barbershop in the Pflugerville area Friday night, according to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.

In a press conference, TCSO Public Information Officer Kristen Dark said a 911 call reporting shots fired came in around 6:04 p.m. The scene was near Crystal Bend Drive and Dewberry Drive. That’s just off Dessau Road and north of East Howard Lane.

Dark said a man armed with a gun went inside a barbershop and opened fire on the patrons and employees. One employee was hit, then taken to the hospital for treatment…
