Lake Charles man indicted for ‘swatting,’ stalking girl’s family, conspiring with hate group, federal prosecutors say

LAFAYETTE, La. (KPLC) – A 19-year-old from Lake Charles has been indicted on federal charges after he and an extremist group reportedly stalked and “swatted” an underage girl and her family.

On Feb. 18, a federal grand jury in Lafayette returned two indictments against Carter Miles Ledoux, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

One indictment charges Ledoux with stalking, threatening, and swatting a minor girl and her family after the girl made a post on social media indicating support for interracial relationships, prosecutors said. The indictment also accuses Ledoux of conspiring with members of his Nihilistic Violent Extremist (NVE) group to do the same.

“The FBI will not abide threats to children,” Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Tapp of the FBI’s New Orleans Field Office said, “Nihilistic Violent Extremists terrorize families every day, and those perpetrators should know that we are working diligently with our partners to find, investigate, and prosecute them.”…
