East Central Independent School District suspended dozens of high school students for walking out of class last week to participate in demonstrations against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations.
Some students who participated in a Feb. 13 walkout at East Central High School have been temporarily barred from participating in extracurricular activities or given other disciplinary actions, East Central ISD confirmed. District spokesman Brandon Oliver did not confirm details of student suspensions.
“Approximately 30 students received suspensions as disciplinary consequences, and no students were expelled. Consequences were determined on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and established campus procedures,” Oliver said in a statement…
