Diamond Head house fire determined to be intentionally set; HPD opens arson case

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Honolulu Police Department opened an arson investigation in relation to the Diamond Head home that was destroyed on Feb. 18.

The blaze was initially reported shortly before 3 a.m., with police and Honolulu Fire Department officials responding to the Kaualio Place home.

Firefighters were combatting the flames in the house when the home’s roof partially collapsed, forcing all firefighters to exit the building. First responders were able to extinguish the flame from outside at 4:44 a.m.
