A suspected heavy equipment theft ring was disrupted in Forsyth County after authorities say a Conley man attempted to steal construction equipment using an unsuspecting tow truck driver.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said Antonio Dozier, 21, of Conley, was charged with felony theft by taking and loitering and prowling. He remains in custody without bond.
The Georgia Department of Public Safety Commercial Vehicle Division alerted the Sheriff’s Office that a theft was expected to occur on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
Investigators said Dozier arranged for a tow truck to meet him at a targeted location in Forsyth County. The suspect had taken a taxi from Atlanta to the site, where he directed the tow truck driver to load a skid steer onto the truck for transport…
