Sports World Is Mourning After The Tragic Deaths Of Two Beloved Reporters

The College sports world suffered two major losses on Friday, Feb. 20. Fans woke up to terrible news regarding a beloved reporter with a long trajectory.

On Friday morning, the Knoxville Police Department confirmed that a driver died after a five-vehicle crash on I-40 West near Cedar Bluff Road. West Rucker, who worked for the Chattanooga Times Free Press, 247Sports and CBS before WBIR, was that one driver.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Wes Rucker,” WBIR president and general manager David Hunt said. “During his time at WBIR and throughout his coverage of the University of Tennessee, Wes exemplified integrity, insight and a genuine love for this community. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. He will be truly missed.”
