Knoxville Wakes to Howling Winds as Temperatures Jump

Knoxville woke up Friday, February 20, 2026, under cloudy skies and a mild 55°F, but the calm start did not last long. A fast-moving line of showers is pushing through early this morning, and some of those showers could pack strong wind gusts up to 30–40 mph. A Wind Advisory remains in effect for parts of the Smokies into the early afternoon. After the morning round, the rest of the day looks breezy and warm, with highs topping out in the upper 60s.

Afternoon Winds Pick Up

According to the National Weather Service, the strongest gusts are most likely during the morning push of showers, with sustained west winds of 10–15 mph and gusts as high as 30–40 mph possible. A Wind Advisory is in place through 1 p.m. EST for the higher Smoky Mountain counties……
