New York City Police Engage In Rare Rescue As They Save A Bald Eagle

The New York City Police engaged in a rare rescue the other day. The police are used to saving lives, but typically those lives are human. However, when officers heard the distressed cries of an animal, they leapt into action. Afterward, the New York City Police managed to save a bald eagle that had become trapped on an ice-clogged river.

People Magazine shared the details surrounding this heroic rescue. A few officers heard the bird and then spotted it stuck out on some ice in the Hudson River. The outlet shared that the bird appeared injured and was stuck just near the George Washington Bridge. It didn’t help that it was February 17; mid-February is a time when the temperatures are plummeting.

Luckily, rather than letting their hopes plummet with the weather, the New York City Police officers sprang into action. As the bald eagle continued to scream for help, officers calmly approached the bird. They managed to get a catch pole over the bird’s head and fasten it securely around its body…
