First things first, a wintry mix will fall on Friday evening, with sleet, freezing rain, and snow all possible across northwest Rhode Island. Slick spots will be possible Friday night into Saturday morning as temperatures drop below freezing.
Up to a tenth of an inch of ice is possible, which could cause problems on the roadways in spots. Make sure to travel with caution tonight.
As the center of low pressure pulls away from New England, precipitation flips back to snow for all communities after midnight. Light, scattered snow showers persist into Saturday, with a trace to an inch likely for most of Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts.
