‘They had time,’ neighbors react to deadly THP chase

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A pursuit involving Tennessee state troopers ends with flames and a deadly crash, while some neighbors question the response by authorities.

The crash took place just feet away from Georgian Hills Elementary School at 4:30 a.m.

WREG’s Katelyn Barker spoke to two people who heard the crash and saw when the car caught fire with the driver inside.

According to THP, the driver refused to stop for a hazardous moving violation leading to the pursuit. During the pursuit, the vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree, and later burst into flames.
