Salvation Army assists with Texas Panhandle wildfires

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Salvation Army of Amarillo is actively serving first responders and individuals who evacuated due to the wildfires sweeping across the Texas Panhandle.

Led by Major Tex Ellis and supported by two dedicated volunteers, the Salvation Army mobilized its Rapid Response Unit to assist with emergency operations. The team provided aid in Donley County on Tuesday evening and has continued its efforts in Potter County since Wednesday.

Over the past two days, the Salvation Army has operated at two emergency shelters and one community site, serving 427 meals and 120 drinks while providing care to two individuals in the affected area.
