Wisconsin Assembly passes Justice for All Act to address circuit court funding shortfalls

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – The Wisconsin State Assembly passed Assembly Bill 514, known as the Justice for All Act, Thursday night. The bill would address circuit court funding shortfalls that counties have faced for years.

The obligation to fund the circuit court system lies with the state, not counties. Brown County’s case backlog currently stands at 2,800 cases, a burden that is costing taxpayers millions annually.

Under the bill, Brown County would receive two new circuit court judges — one in 2028 and one in 2029 — along with three additional assistant district attorneys.
