EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about scam calls regarding jury duty that demand money to prevent arrest.
In the calls, the scammer tells the victims that they failed to appear for jury duty and a warrant has been issued for their arrest. The caller may then demand payment over the phone to “resolve” the warrant or avoid arrest, the Sheriff’s Office said.
