Mississippi Habitat for Humanity celebrates 40 years

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area hosted a luncheon on Thursday to celebrate 40 years of building affordable homes for the less fortunate.

The Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area was founded in 1986 with the goal of providing affordable housing for residents. Merrill McKewen, president and CEO of the Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area, said they keep the dream of homeownership alive for many.

“The dream of homeownership is alive and well for people who never imagined they’d ever be able to own their own home,” said McKewen. “We estimate that every morning, 2700 individuals wake up in one of the houses that y’all made possible.”…
