Late-Night Shaw Inferno Leaves Three Hospitalized, One Clinging To Life

A late-night house fire in the Shaw neighborhood of south St. Louis sent three people to the hospital Thursday, including one in critical condition, according to city officials. Firefighters rushed to the 4000 block of Magnolia Place and had the flames under control in roughly an hour.

According to KSDK, the St. Louis Fire Department was dispatched to the block at about 8:30 p.m., and crews reported the fire was under control by around 9:15 p.m. The outlet reported that firefighters deployed several hoselines and then focused on overhaul and ventilation as they wrapped up work at the scene.

KMOV reports that one person was rescued from the home and rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. A second person was taken in serious condition, and a third was transported as a precaution. The station noted a social media post from the St. Louis Fire Department stating that “Two lines deployed, the #fire has been knocked down” as crews completed suppression.

Investigation Underway

Fire investigators, utility crews and the city’s building division were called to the scene to look into the cause and evaluate structural damage, KSDK reported. Officials have not released the names of the victims, and an official cause of the fire has not yet been announced…
