TPD to hold free motorcycle skills course

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department announced the dates for its motorcycle skills course, where officers will work with riders on techniques and rules.

Police said the motorcycle skills course will be held on the following dates:

  • March 28
  • April 11
  • April 18
  • May 16
  • May 30
  • June 13
  • Sept. 26

The classes typically run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. They are not designed to teach a person who has never ridden. Some riding experience is required.

Officers will work with riders to teach:

  • Clutch friction zone
  • Proper braking techniques
  • Cone patterns
  • Rules of the road

Police said the following are required to participate:

  • Street legal motorcycle
  • Valid “L” endorsed driver’s license (previously “M”)
  • Insurance
  • Helmet
  • Eye protection
  • Gloves
  • Long sleeve sirt
  • Boots that cover the ankle
