Everyone loves celebrating a baby’s birth—whether family, a good friend, or a zoo animal.
Back on October 24th, 2025 the Detroit Zoo shared that a healthy baby giraffe named Okidi, whose name means “orchid” in Swahili was born.
The baby giraffe was doing well until a tragic incident happened earlier this week that led zoo officials to make the incredibly difficult decision of euthanize the animal.
