Buffalo mayor says half of city snowplows are sidelined after cold snap

BUFFALO, N.Y. — While we won’t be seeing much snow here in Buffalo, Mayor Sean Ryan says old plows are an issue after recent winter weather events.

He said of the 28 plows in the city’s fleet, half of them need repairs, and there aren’t enough people to fix them quickly.

“We authorized a lot of overtime for mechanics, but that cold snap really put a burden on our machinery. So now we have a lot of wounded snowplows lined up to be fixed. I also, mind you, as part of this austerity. We are down 50 percent of the mechanic workforce we should have in the City of Buffalo,” he said…
