Huntsville Fire and Rescue recognizes 39 firefighters for heroic rescues

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Huntsville Fire and Rescue recognized several of its own Friday night for heroic conduct while on duty, including the rescues of several young children.

HFR recognized 39 of its personnel on Friday for their actions in the line of duty during its annual Awards and Promotions Ceremony.

One dead, five injured in wreck on Jordan Lane

Those actions ranged from rendering aid to young children in medical and fire emergencies to putting their own safety on the line to help others.

“The men and women who wear the HFR uniform are truly extraordinary,” Chief Howard McFarlen said. “Time and again, they have demonstrated their courage and resolve when facing dangerous situations or scenarios when the victims are fighting for their lives. It’s an honor to recognize them and celebrate their hard work and dedication.”…
