Morristown, Tennessee – Snow will continue to blanket the higher elevations of the Smoky Mountains through Monday night, with up to 7 inches above 4,000 feet and wind chills dipping below zero at times.
According to the National Weather Service in Morristown, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until midnight Monday night for Johnson, Unicoi, southeast Greene and Carter counties, along with the Smoky Mountain areas of Cocke, Blount and Sevier counties. Two rounds of snow are expected. Light snow continues Sunday morning, with a second, steadier round developing Sunday night and lasting through Monday. Accumulations will range from 1 to 4 inches between 2,500 and 4,000 feet, increasing to 4 to 7 inches above 4,000 feet. Isolated totals over 7 inches are possible near and above 6,000 feet.
